Superb hotel - great valuePigeon78 - Australie
The best hotel I've enjoyed in Paris so far - really high quality and good value for money. During a five night stay I tried out room 42 and then the large suite in room 45 when a friend joined me. The additional cost to upgrade the room was incredibly good value - plus we scored an unexpected bottle of wine :-) Room 42 was very comfortably sized by Paris standards with absolutely no need to edge round the bed or try to squeeze into one spot to open a bag. Of particular note is the outstanding shower - genuinely spacious and fantastic instant hot water of great pressure. Both rooms were very quiet, even with windows open at night. This is by no means a dead end of town, but is pleasantly calm and the local nightlife on a summer weekend was very civilised. The hotel looks classy from the lobby entry and details in the rooms stand up to close scrutiny. Staff at the front desk were consistently warm, professional and helpful. Housekeeping were lovely and the place was spotless. As others have noted the location is great, lots of bookstores, restaurants, beer and wine bars in close proximity plus other shops. (Thoroughly recommend the Ambassade de Bourgogne around the corner if you'd like some great wine and cheese, or La Robe et la Mousse if you're into craft beer.) Very short walk to the heart of St Germain, stroll past the Odeon to the Jardin du Luxembourg, or pretty much walk anywhere you'd like to go - or take the metro if you're in a hurry. Trains direct to CDG from the Luxembourg station. I'm so glad I tried this place, and will definitely be back next time! PS: didn't try breakfast, but the room looked charming. PPS: the only thing missing from the suite was a full length mirror - this seemed an odd oversight, looked everywhere but couldn't find one. PPPS: the only thing missing from room 42 was a coffee machine - which we very much enjoyed in the suite. Bottled Evian was nice but coffee is likely more vital to many guests!
